It is built on three small islands in Slotssøen lake in north Zealand, moraine country left by the retreating ice. The lake is both moat and mirror; the castle is doubled in it all day.

You dig the moat by learning what clean lets in and what it does not. At this degree the water is shallow — it is a line drawn, a first no. Anything that cannot cross clean waits outside the gate.

Every time you do expose on purpose you set a stone. The walls of Frederiksborg Castle were raised the same way — one course a season, by hands that did not see the finish. Height is only repetition that kept its line.
