The stone read as the word

Colourless topaz is what topaz is when nothing else got in. Colour in topaz comes from impurity and irradiation; clarity is the default and everything else is an addition. Clean is not a treatment, it is a return.

It also cleaves — one clean plane, one clean break, no shattering. Some things are meant to separate cleanly rather than tear.
