The stone read as the word

Rainbow moonstone hides its colour until you move. Tilt it one way and it is plain white; tilt it another and blue comes up out of the depth. You cannot know this stone from one position.

Circumspective sight is that discipline: walk the whole way around the matter before you name it. What looked like nothing had a blue flash in it from a different angle.
