The Law of the Perfecting

Perfecting is to make a thing thoroughly complete — not perfectionism, which is the fear of being seen unfinished. It follows Production because perfecting only exists after something has been made. She begins correctible: contrite, undefended, able to correct constantly. She sees what to do by envision, she enquires, she changes the dial and the outcome changes, and she holds one overview of the whole. She becomes corrective — constantly making better — and she emends: she removes the fault from the thing itself instead of arguing about it. She no longer carries an outline; she IS the outline others build to. In the Sovereign she simply becomes correct: settled, plumb, foundationally sound, and enjoying a thing when it is true. She sees by envisage, which is not envisioning — envisage faces the thing and shows each step required to get there. Overview becomes outline becomes overviews, plural: she now sees and oversees.
