The Law of Procurement is your law

Day Twenty-Nine is the Law of Procurement. To procure is to get a thing and to get it properly — from pro + curare, to care for on behalf of. Procurement is not wishing, and it is not buying; it is the whole discipline of obtaining what the house needs, in order, and keeping it once it comes.

It follows Priority because you can only procure what you have already put first. Day Twenty-Eight ordered the firsts; Day Twenty-Nine goes and gets them. And it is an IN day — what she obtains comes back into the estate and stays there.

The Adventure CEO becomes consistent. Her way of moving is to even a thing: to level it, smooth it, make it the same on Tuesday as it was on Monday. And what she has to work with is obtainment — the getting itself. Until a thing is obtained it has not been reached. Nearly obtained is not obtained.

The Architect becomes constant. Consistent repeats; constant endures. Preserve is the better part of this word: a constant thing keeps on, holds through, does not lapse when nobody is watching. And she stops merely getting — she earns. What she becomes is the obtainer. She obtains. This is how a woman goes up the rung of the ladder: not by one lucky getting, but by becoming the kind of woman things are obtained through.

In the Sovereign she becomes cohesive — she holds together. Every part of the estate sticks to every other part, so nothing she obtains falls out the bottom. Her way of moving is to endure, and endurance here is a mastery, not something to grit through. It is the preserving quality itself: cohesive learning, the ability to keep on keeping.

So consistent becomes constant becomes cohesive. She evens, she earns, she endures. Obtainment becomes obtainer becomes obtainments, plural — she obtains many things and, which is rarer, she keeps them.
