The stone read as the word

Rhodonite is never one substance. Manganese silicate gives the rose; the same manganese oxidised gives the black. Cutters do not remove the veining, they compose with it, because the pattern is what makes the cabochon worth setting.

That is what constituted means: appointed and put together out of parts, each with its own job, forming one lawful body. The dark lines are not damage. They are structure.
