Amethyst grows inward, lining the hollow of a closed geode where nothing disturbs it. The colour comes from iron plus slow natural radiation over ages — a stone that took its time.

The Greeks cut drinking cups from it to stay sober in company. Contemplation is that: staying clear in the middle of noise, going in to think before you take a position.
