How the stone came to be
Amethyst is ordinary quartz that met iron and radiation and came out violet. It grows inside a sealed pocket in old lava — a cavity that fills slowly with mineral-bearing water while nothing outside it can interfere. Every crystal in the geode points inward toward the same empty centre. It is the most exact picture of a contemplative mind in the mineral world: a closed room, one subject, all attention turned the same direction.
The Greeks named it amethystos — not drunken — and cut wine cups from it, believing the stone kept the head clear when the table did not. That is why it became the stone of judges, bishops and counsellors: the one worn by people whose whole office was to think straight when everyone around them had stopped.
For centuries it ranked with emerald and ruby, until enormous deposits were opened in Brazil and Uruguay in the nineteenth century and the price collapsed. The stone did not change. Only the estimate of it did — which is its own lesson on a day about estimating well.
At 7 on the Mohs scale it is hard enough to be worn every day. Wisdom is meant to be daily wear, not a display piece.
What it is carried for
- The classical stone of a clear head — carried against intoxication of every kind, including the intoxication of a good idea.
- Held for discernment: seeing what belongs on each side of the equation before committing.
- Worn by counsellors and judges for sound judgement under pressure.
- Carried to quiet the mind enough to entertain a thought without seizing it.
- Used for study, teaching and expounding — the stone of the one who explains.
As you live this law, you become this stone
The jewel is not a souvenir. Every element of Amethyst is an element you gain as you walk the Law of the Position — not by admiring the stone, but by living it until you are made of the same thing.
You gain · Grows inside a sealed cavity
Nothing outside interferes while it forms. She comes in on this day; wisdom is built in a closed room.
You gain · Every point aimed at one centre
Contemplation is not wandering. It is all attention turned the same direction until the thing opens.
You gain · Named 'not drunken'
The stone of the clear head at a loud table — she estimates soberly while others are carried away.
You gain · Its price fell; its nature did not
Value and estimate are different things. A comprehensive woman knows what a thing is worth before the market tells her.
You gain · Hard enough for daily wear
At 7 it goes everywhere with her. Wisdom is ordinary clothing, not ceremonial dress.
A jewel fit for a king — and a queen
Smile when you read this, because it is about you. A rough stone is not set in a crown; a cut one is. As you become and develop through this program you are being cut, warmed and polished into a jewel fit for a king and for a queen — and the joy of it is that you get to enjoy the stone you are turning into.
And you become your business. What you are made of shows up in your pricing, your rooms, your table, your people and your work. She does not have a brand — she has a nature, and everything she touches reflects it.
