The stone read as the word

Larimar grew in volcanic tubes that later filled with sea water. Its pattern is literally the record of an exchange: fire below, water above, and a blue that neither could have made alone. It is the only gem coloured that particular sky-and-sea blue, and it comes from one hillside on one island.

Held up to light it seems to be mid-sentence — pale ribbons moving through deeper ones, nothing closed off. A communicative woman looks like that: she has a current running through her, and she lets it pass.
