Labradorite

The Adventure CEO · WHO she is

Hardness
6–6.5 on the Mohs scale

Grey-black at rest; peacock blue, gold and green when tilted

Labradorescence — light bouncing off internal layers, not surface colour

The stone read as the word

Held flat, labradorite looks like nothing. Turn it a few degrees and the whole stone lights up. The colour is not pigment; it is light striking stacked internal plates and coming back changed. Consciousness works the same way — the material was always there, the angle made it visible.

The Inuit of Labrador said the northern lights were once trapped in this rock until a man struck it with a spear and freed most of them; what stayed behind is what we hold. To be conscious is to carry a little of that captured light and know it is in there.

What it is carried for

  • Carried for waking up mid-day — noticing what was already in front of her.
  • Held when a small turn of the head is all a decision needs.
