Morganite · The Law of Patronage
- Family
- Beryl, coloured by manganese — sister to emerald

- Colour
- Pale peach to blush pink, clean and even
- Signature
- Named for J.P. Morgan, the collector-patron who funded the mines
The stone read as the word
Morganite is emerald's family in a gentler colour: the same hard beryl, dressed to meet people. It was named in 1911 for a patron who paid for other people's science and never cut the stone himself.
Courtesy is exactly that combination — hardness of 8 with a blush finish. The manner is soft; the material underneath is not.
What it is carried for
- Carried when she must meet a stranger level and go first with the manner.
- Held for royal politeness spent on someone who cannot repay it.
