The stone read as the word

Chrysoprase is made of quartz crystals too small to see, packed so evenly that the whole stone reads as one calm colour. The refinement is at the level of grain — nothing coarse survived.

It was the green of choice for European courts before emerald was widely cut. Culture is that kind of polish: not louder, finer.
