The stone read as the word

Every line in this stone is a separate visit of silica-rich water into the same hollow. Nothing was lost between visits; each layer sat down on top of the last. To be collected is to have all of your episodes still in order inside you.

The lace pattern only shows when the stone is cut across the layers. Composure is often invisible until something slices through.

What it is carried for

  • Carried for gathering herself before she enters the room.
  • Held when many small pieces must be brought into one hand.
