The stone read as the word
Opal is silica that never crystallised — spheres packed with water still in them. Mexican fire opal keeps all that water and glows orange anyway. Abundance and fire in the same stone.
The Aztecs called it quetzalitzlipyollitli, the stone of the bird of paradise. It was mined where volcanic water ran generously through rhyolite; abundance came from flow, not from hoarding.
